Daitokan was the name of Takeda Tokimune Sensei’s Dojo in Hokkaido. This name was given to our study group by Kondo Katsuyuki Sensei. It is a tremendous honour.
The calligraphy on this flag painted by Kondo Sensei says “Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu-Daitokan”

Welcome to our Daito Ryu AIki Jujutsu Study Group.
Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu is a traditional Japanese martial art transmitted for generations within the Takeda family. Many of the techniques are from ancient times and it is considered a cultural heritage of the Samurai Warrior Class. Daito Ryu is ‘Budo’. Budo is a way of life. A way of strengthening one’s body, mind and spirit.
Daito Ryu contains Aikijujutsu and Jujutsu. It is the foundation of many arts and is considered as the root art of Aikido.
We are a small group who train in mainline Daito Ryu Aiki Jujutsu. Our Headmaster is Katsuyuki Kondo Sensei.
Kondo Sensei gave us the name of ‘Daitokan’ for our group. It is a very special name. You can read more on that later….
The group is led by Rachael Crompton who is a direct student of Kondo Sensei’s.
We train three times a week and hold a monthly seminar. Some of you may already know the long and honourable history of Daito Ryu and understand the significance of this ancient art. Or if you want to find out more please read through our site.
